I first realized my words had power in third grade: A slip of a poem, a tale spun on the playground, and the resulting rapt attention had me hooked. The path was laid and never wavered. I set my sights on two renowned journalism schools—receiving a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri and a Master of Science in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University—before making my way into a world of words.
From greeting cards to business brochures, not-for-profit marketing materials to memorial service programs, I’ve loved exploring where words can take me. It’s provided the distinct privilege to delve into the realms of architecture, real estate, corporate quality-control methodologies, the health industry, and more.
Writing has given me opportunities to work both collaboratively and independently. I’ve reveled in being a member of a number of talented teams and partnering with freelance artists and designers while brand strategies were crafted, editorial content planned, and big-picture brainstorming took place.
I’ve also flourished working independently, authoring countless magazine and newspaper articles on real estate, parenting, health, business, not-for-profits, and the veterinary field. My work has appeared in such publications as Leawood Lifestyle Magazine, Firstline Magazine, iSixSigmaMagazine, The Kansas City Star, 435 Magazine, and more.
I reside in Leawood, Kansas, with my family and a zoo’s worth of creatures, big and small.
